Ballet Ballet serves as a backbone for many other styles of dance and is based on techniques that have been developed over centuries. Dancers are taught proper body placement, body alignment, barre and center floor work. This class will introduce vocabulary and students will learn the fundamentals of ballet while gaining strength, increasing flexibility, improving balance, coordination, and grace. Hip Hop Hip Hop is a fun, high energy, free style dance form that has evolved over the years from the hip-hop culture. It includes various moves such as breaking, popping, locking, krumping, and even house dance. Jazz As an up-tempo style of dance, Jazz is fun, energetic and usually incorporates bold, dramatic body movements and incorporates technique as students progress. Lyrical Lyrical incorporates ballet, jazz, and contemporary techniques. It’s an expressive, simultaneously subtle and dynamic, focused on conveying musicality and emotion through movement. Musical Theater Musical Theater is an exciting class that explores the world of acting and dancing. It combines jazz techniques with other varieties to create a “Broadway” style of dance. Tap Tap is a form of dance in which dancers use their shoes, as well as the floor, as a percussive instrument to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats. It is a style involving rhythm, dynamics, and varying sounds. |
